Dodsal Construction-Dubai-Uae

The office is currently set up over at the Jumeira Park Villa Project in Jebel Ali. It’s a big site, and things are always moving. We are part of the Dodsal Engg & Constrn Pte Ltd team out here in Dubai. Working in the UAE means dealing with a lot of heat, especially when you’re out near the villas. We spend a lot of our time in the site office, which is basically a modified container with some air conditioning that works most of the time. There is dust everywhere because of the construction, so you just get used to your boots always being brown. We have blueprints spread out on the tables and a lot of safety gear hanging by the door. It’s a busy atmosphere with trucks coming in and out and laborers moving around. Jebel Ali is a long way from the city center, so it feels a bit isolated sometimes, but we have plenty to keep us occupied. The project is a major one, so there is always someone checking on the progress or looking for a specific drawing. We eat our lunch quickly and get back to it. It’s a tough environment, but that’s just how construction goes out here in the desert. We’ve got the sea not too far away, but we mostly just see the sand and the concrete structures going up day by day. It is hard work but the days go by fast when we are this busy.
