Prasad Bricks

The yard is out on Bogadi Road in Gaddige. If you know the 16-9-104 area, you probably have passed us. It is a lot of hard work out here in the sun. We spend our days stacking bricks and making sure the orders are ready for the tractors that come to pick them up. Sometimes the road gets busy with traffic, but we just keep doing our thing. It is mostly just us and the red clay. You get used to the smell of the earth and the heat after a few years. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just a small place to sit and some shade when we need it. People from around the colony come by when they are building a wall or a small house. We talk to them, figure out how many bricks they need, and get it sorted. There are days when the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves, which can be a real headache. But that is part of the job. Gaddige is a good place to be, even if it gets a bit dusty when the wind picks up. We’ve been doing this for a long time and our hands show it. It’s just honest work, making something that people use to build their homes. We are usually here from sunrise until it gets dark, making sure everything is stacked right and ready for the next day's morning deliveries.
