Out here in Sankeshwar, at our spot 5-34-6, it’s mostly about the rocks and the machines. Working at a stone crusher means you’re never really clean. There is dust on everything, from our clothes to the old table we use as a desk. It’s a loud place to work, with the machinery running most of the time, but we’ve gotten used to shouting over the noise to hear each other. We don't have a fancy office building; it’s more of a practical setup right where the action is. We spend our days watching the trucks come in and out and making sure the crushers are doing their job properly. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the whole afternoon getting grease up to our elbows to fix it. That’s just part of the life here. We don't have any polished sales pitches or anything like that. People come to us because they need stone, and we provide it. It’s honest, hard work under the sun, and it’s not for everyone. We know the local drivers and the guys from the nearby construction sites quite well. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks and try to keep the equipment running so we can finish up and head home. It is a simple life and we have been doing it this way for years.
