New Vanilla Ice Cream

Our little place, New Vanilla Ice Cream, is located at 57, Am Saha Street in Hoogly. It’s one of those narrow streets where the houses are built very close together. Because of the location, it stays a bit shaded, which is nice when the humidity gets high in Bengal. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a good while, and most of the people living on the street know us by name. The shop itself is small, with just enough room for the freezers and a small space for us to stand. We don't have a big sign outside, just a simple one that people see when they walk by. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to talk for a bit while they cool off. We spend a lot of time checking the seals on the freezer doors because the salt in the air can be tough on the metal. It’s not a polished place at all. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking sound when it’s on the highest speed. We just keep things moving, selling what we have and ordering more when the tubs get empty. It’s a quiet way to make a living, and we like being part of the neighborhood here on Am Saha Street. Sometimes the delivery van struggles to get down the narrow road, but we always manage to get the boxes inside.
