Ashima Pharmachi

Ashima Pharmachi is over in Gandhi Colony on Krishna Road within the Hugli-Chinsurah area. It is a small shop that sits right on the corner. We have been operating from this location for many years now and have become part of the daily life around here. The space inside is a bit cramped because we try to keep a lot of different things in stock. We spend most of our time organizing the shelves and helping the people who walk in. There is no corporate ladder here or any big bosses. It is just me and one other person most days. We like the pace of life in Hugli-Chinsurah because it isn't too fast. On Krishna Road, you see the same vendors and neighbors every single morning. We don't do anything special to promote the business. We just keep the door open and make sure we have what people are looking for. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it is quiet and just watch the street. Our bookkeeping is done by hand in a big blue book because we never got used to the computers. It feels more natural to write things down. The shop can get a bit dusty with the windows open but we try to keep it tidy. We are just a local business trying to do an honest day's work for the people in Gandhi Colony.
