W.J. Alcock & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. is situated out at 153-154, Nh4 in Sidgaon, Kaveri. Being right on the National Highway means we hear the constant roar of traffic all day long. It’s a big space compared to some of the city offices. We have been here for a good while and the building shows its age in some places. There’s a big gate in the front and a yard where things get loaded. It’s a bit out of the way if you’re coming from the main town area, but it’s convenient for the big trucks. Inside, it’s mostly just desks and a lot of technical manuals. We deal with various equipment and things like that. The air is often a bit dusty because of the road works nearby. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea and eat our lunch together. The internet can be a bit spotty sometimes because of the location, which can be frustrating when we are trying to get things done. We don’t really bother with making the place look like a showroom. It’s a workspace first and foremost. People who work here have been around for years and they know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out.
