Trainee Geologist

We are based out of Vivekanand Nagar in Gadag. M/S Rmmpl is the name on the papers, but mostly we just look at rocks and dirt all day. Being near the P and T Quarters makes it easy to find us. Karnataka has some interesting ground to study, and that's exactly what we do. It’s a lot of walking and collecting samples. The office is usually full of maps and dusty boots. We aren't trying to be a huge corporation. It's just a few of us trying to understand what's under the soil. Some days are long, especially when the sun is out in full force. We don't mind it much. You get used to the outdoor life. We have a small lab setup to look at what we find in the fields. It's quiet work. Gadag is a decent place to be based. People around here are helpful. Sometimes we spend hours arguing over a piece of quartz. It sounds boring to some, but it's what we like. We don't have a big marketing budget or fancy brochures. If you need someone who knows the local geology, we are here. Our desks are a mess of notebooks and GPS devices. That's just the reality of the work. We keep it simple and focus on the land. It’s honest work, even if it gets a bit muddy sometimes. We are just local people doing science in our own way without any extra fluff or expensive gear.
