Steel Yard

Our yard is located in Old Hubli, right off the main Pune-Bangalore Road. We are situated very close to Laxmi Talkies, and that is how most people find their way to us. It is a very busy area with a lot of trucks and transit traffic passing through at all hours. Steel Yard is a simple name because that is exactly what it is—a place where we keep and sell steel. It is an open-air setup for the most part. We have all sorts of heavy beams and iron angles lying around in piles. The rain can be a bit of a nuisance, so we have to spend time covering things up when the sky starts looking dark. It is a very physical job. Moving this metal around takes a lot of effort and our backs usually hurt by the time we go home at night. We have been operating from this spot for many years. The location is good for the big trucks coming off the highway. We do not do anything fancy here. There are no big advertisements or catchy slogans on the walls. We just open the gates every morning and wait for the customers to arrive. Some are big contractors and others are just local guys working on a project at their house. We treat everyone the same way. The talkies nearby bring in some noise in the evenings, but we are usually done by then.
