We are tucked away in the Shruti Building over in Prashant Colony. It’s Plot No. 31, right in Vidyanagar. It is a bit different from the big industrial plots because it feels more like a neighborhood here. We have wires and parts spread out over the workbenches most of the time. It looks like a mess to someone walking in, but we know exactly where the soldering iron is buried. The building is older, with some cracks in the plaster, but it stays dry when it rains. We spend a lot of time squinting at small components. Sometimes the lights flicker when we test a bigger piece of equipment. We don't have a receptionist, so if the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door goes to see who it is. We drink a lot of coffee while we figure out why a circuit isn't doing what it's supposed to do. It takes a lot of patience to work on this stuff. People bring us things that are broken, and we see what we can do to fix them. It is quiet work for the most part, except for the sound of the fans on the computers or a bit of radio music in the background. We like it here because it's close to the shops and we can get snacks easily. It feels like a good place to work.
