You can find us over at Laxmi Plaza on Pb Road. We are on the first floor in shops six and seven. It is right near Basel Mission School, so we see the kids heading to class every morning. The stairs up to the shop are a bit narrow and steep. Inside, we have our work tables and all the materials spread out. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where every tool is kept. Usually, the windows are open so we can hear the traffic down on Pb Road. We do art stuff and framing, mostly just working with our hands. Sometimes it gets a bit quiet in the middle of the day when the sun is high. We’ve occupied these two rooms on the first floor since the nineties. The walls are covered in old projects and bits of paper that we never threw away. We usually have a pot of tea going in the corner. It’s a small team here, just a few of us. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just find us by walking up the stairs or hearing about us from the school parents. The light in the afternoon is actually quite good for working on the fine details of the frames. We stay until the sun goes down and then lock up the metal shutters. It is a simple life in a simple shop. We just keep busy with whatever comes through the door every day. Sometimes people just stop by to say hello.
