If you go down Koppikar Road, near Sk Press, you’ll find Bharat Gifts. It’s a small shop, maybe a bit cramped because we try to fit so much on the shelves. We’ve got all sorts of things, from little trinkets to bigger items people buy for weddings or birthdays. It’s mostly just me and a helper here. The bells on the door ring every time someone walks in, which can get a bit much during the festive seasons. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves because the road outside gets quite dusty. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for people to stop by. Sometimes people come in just to chat and don’t buy anything, and that’s fine too. We’ve known some of our customers for years. The shop has a specific smell, like incense and old paper. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the new stock just stays in boxes in the middle of the floor for a few days. It’s a simple life. We aren't looking to become a giant chain or anything. We just like having our little spot on Koppikar Road. It’s a bit of a squeeze when it’s busy, but we manage. We’ve been here a long time and hope to stay a while longer. The Sk Press nearby is a good landmark if you get lost, and we usually have the radio playing softly in the background.
