It’s mostly just us here at the farm in Guru Gobind Nagar, right off the P.B. Road. Growing mushrooms isn't exactly a clean job, but we've been doing it a while now and we're used to it. Most days start pretty early because you have to check the temperature in the sheds. If it gets too hot, the whole crop can go bad. Anmol Mushroom Farm Pvt. Ltd. involves a lot of moving bags of compost around and making sure the humidity stays where it needs to be. It’s quiet out here near Kundgol Cross, which is nice compared to the noise of the main road. The P.O. Adargunchi area has changed over the years, but we’re still just tucked away doing our thing. Sometimes the humidity makes everything feel damp, and your clothes get a bit of that earthy smell by the end of the shift. We aren't a big fancy operation with a lot of office staff. It’s mostly just hands-on work in the dark rooms. People sometimes stop by when they see the sign, asking if we have any fresh batches ready to buy. If the harvest is good, the crates pile up fast. Then there's the loading onto the trucks which is another whole chore. It’s a lot of physical labor, keeping the trays lined up and monitoring the growth. We don't have a big marketing team, just our names on the gate and the work we do every single day in the mushroom sheds.
