Akay Industries Pvt Ltd. is located right on Station Road. Being near the station means there is always a rhythm to the day, usually marked by the sound of the trains passing by. We’ve been at this location for a long time, so much so that we just use the PO Box 86 for most of our mail. The building is older, with high ceilings and heavy doors that have been there since the start. It isn't a modern glass building, but it’s sturdy and it serves our purpose. Most of the staff have been here for years. We know each other's families and what everyone likes for lunch. The work is steady. We don't have many walk-in visitors, so the place stays relatively quiet except for the office chatter and the occasional whistle from the tracks. We spend a lot of time looking over orders and checking our inventory. It’s a manual process in a lot of ways, but it works for us. The desks are wooden and heavy, cluttered with papers and old ledgers. We don’t go for the latest gadgets unless we absolutely have to. There’s a sense of history in the walls here. We just come in, do our bit for the industry, and make sure the accounts are settled at the end of the month. It’s a slow and steady kind of life, which suits the way we handle things.
