Tilottama Bhandar

You can find Tilottama Bhandar right on Station Road in the Ghoraghata North area of Bagnan. Being so close to the station means we see a lot of people coming and going from the trains all day long. It is a busy part of Howrah, and the 711303 area always feels like it is moving. Our shop is just a regular bhandar where we stock the usual things people need for their daily cooking. We have bags of rice, lentils, and different spices stacked up. The floor is often a bit dusty because of all the feet walking in from Station Road, but we try to keep it clean when there is a quiet moment. It isn't a very large shop, so things are piled pretty high on the shelves. Bagnan is a place where everyone seems to know everyone else, so we spend a lot of time just chatting with customers about their families or the weather. Sometimes the rain gets quite heavy and leaks a little near the front door, but that’s just how it is with these old buildings. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just want to make sure the bins are full and the scales are working right. It is a simple way to make a living here in West Bengal. People just pop in on their way home from the platform.
