Operating out of Asim Kumar Ghosh’s place here in Howrah has been our routine for quite a while. It’s a standard West Bengal setup, nothing too flashy or complicated. We spend our mornings going over the schedules and making sure the supplies like sand and bricks are arriving at the sites when they should. The office can get a bit cramped when the whole team is in for a meeting, but we manage. We aren't the type of people to sit behind desks all day anyway. Most of us prefer being out where the actual building is happening. Construction in this part of the world has its own set of challenges, from the heat to the local holidays that slow everything down. We try to keep a steady pace and not get too worked up when things don't go exactly as planned. Usually, it's a matter of solving one problem after another until the project is finished. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. It’s just about putting things together and making sure they’re sturdy. The air in the office usually smells like old paper and the tea someone brought in. We’ve got a lot of respect for the trade and the people who do the heavy lifting. It’s a long day, but it’s what we know how to do best. We just try to keep at it, even when the 711112 humidity gets to us.
