Taj Stores

Taj Stores is located on Mathapara Road in the Dhulashimla area of Uluberia. We’ve been operating out of this building for quite a few years now. It’s a general store that caters to the families living around here in Howrah. We try to keep a bit of everything, from soap and shampoo to bags of rice and flour. The shop is tucked away a bit, but most people in the neighborhood know where we are. It’s a small family-run business. Sometimes my kids help out after school when it gets a bit crowded. We have a lot of plastic buckets and household items hanging from the ceiling to save space on the floor. It can be a bit of a squeeze when we get a big delivery, but we manage. We don't have a website or a delivery van. If you want something, you just come by and pick it up. Most of our customers are people we've known for a long time. We talk about the local news while I pack their bags. The floor is just plain concrete and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. We open early in the morning because that's when people need their milk and bread. It’s just a simple shop where we do our best to help out the locals with their daily needs without making a big deal of it.
