About Surya4Life Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Howrah
House No 344 in Madhya Chakpara is where we do all our work. It’s in the Post Liluah area, which is a bit of a journey if you’re coming from the center of the city. The house is a plain building that looks like all the others on the street, except for our name being written on the wall near the door. We use the front rooms for the office stuff. There’s usually a motorcycle parked in the small space out front, and some laundry hanging from the neighbor's balcony. It’s a residential feel here, so you hear dogs barking and people cooking lunch while we are trying to get through the paperwork. The fans on the ceiling hum quite loudly, which helps drown out the noise from the street. We don’t have a big staff, so it’s usually just two or three of us sitting in the plastic chairs. Liluah can get quite dusty, especially when the wind picks up, so we keep the doors shut most of the time. The light in the afternoon hits the desks at an angle that makes it hard to see the monitors, so we usually have to pull the curtains shut around three o’clock. It’s a simple setup, nothing more than what is needed to keep things running. We go home when the sun goes down, usually after making sure all the lights are switched off and the door is locked tight.
