Singh General Stores

Singh General Stores is located at Rajgunge Sitala Tala, near the Banipur post office in Howrah. It’s a quiet corner of 711411 where things move a bit slower than in the middle of Kolkata. We’ve been here for a long time, serving the local families who live around the Sitala Tala temple. The shop is full of everyday items, from school notebooks for the kids to kerosene and cooking supplies for the kitchens. We don’t have any fancy displays or neon signs. It’s just a simple storefront with a counter where we stand most of the day. The building is old, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We spend a lot of our time chatting with the neighbors who stop by for a chat as much as for their groceries. Howrah can be a busy place, but this little pocket of Banipur feels more like a village sometimes. We do our own inventory and handle all the cleaning ourselves. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the heavy sacks of flour arrive. We don't use any high-tech systems, just a simple ledger to keep track of what we buy and sell. It’s an honest way to spend the day, and we are glad to be a part of the daily life here, helping people get what they need for their homes without any fuss.
