This office is over in Bally, Howrah, at 14/15 Ramnabamitala Lane. Being on this side of the river has its own rhythm. Howrah is an old industrial heartland, and you can feel that history everywhere. Our office is situated in a quiet lane, but the main roads are always packed with activity. The building is simple and utilitarian. We have big fans on the ceiling that hum all day long. Most of our work here involves managing the logistics for projects across the district. We have a lot of meetings with site engineers who come in covered in dust from the field. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t use fancy jargon or have big posters about missions and visions. We just talk about what needs to be built and how much steel we need for it. There’s a small temple nearby, and we can hear the bells in the evening. It’s a nice place to work if you like a bit of a traditional atmosphere. We have a small porch where we sit and have our morning tea. The team is like a small family; we’ve worked together for a long time. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers it black. It’s not a high-pressure corporate office. We just take things as they come and try to solve the problems that pop up on the sites. It’s honest work in a part of town that’s seen a lot of change.
