Shivshakti Stores

Shivshakti Stores is located on the Main Road in the Kalatala area of Amta. It is a busy location with a lot of people passing by on their way to work or the market. We sell household goods and daily items that people use in their homes every day. The shop isn't very big, so we use all the wall space we have to stack the products. It can be a tight squeeze when we have more than a few people inside. I’ve lived in this part of Howrah all my life, so I know most of the families who live around here. The Main Road is always noisy with the sounds of trucks and buses, so we have to talk loudly to be heard. We don't have air conditioning, just two old fans that we keep running during the hot months. It can get quite warm inside, but we are used to it by now. We aren't looking to turn this into a big supermarket. This small shop is enough for us to make a living. We try to keep our prices where they should be so people keep coming back. Sometimes we close up a little early if there is a local festival, but mostly we are here from the morning until the sun goes down. It’s a plain and honest shop for the local people in Kalatala and we don't have any fancy stuff to show off.
