Kanan Paint Works

You can find Kanan Paint Works over on Nilratan Mukherjee Road in Shibpur. We are located at number 54/2. The shop almost always smells a bit like paint thinner and fresh pigment. It is not a bad smell once you get used to working here every day. We have tall wooden shelves lined with metal tins of all different colors and sizes. Shibpur is a busy area, and there is always some kind of noise or activity going on right outside our front door. We spend a lot of our time mixing colors by hand and checking the finish on different wooden or metal surfaces. Our floor has plenty of colorful paint spills on it from over the many years we have been open. It gives the place a bit of real personality. We are not a big factory or a major brand. It is a local operation where we do the work ourselves. The lighting inside is kept very bright so we can see the different shades properly. Sometimes people come in with a small scrap of cloth or a piece of torn wallpaper wanting us to match the color exactly for them. We do our best with the tools we have. It is a messy job most days, but we really enjoy seeing the final results when a project is finished. The neighborhood is very friendly, and we know most of the people who live on this road. We open up the shutters every morning and stay late.
