Big Basket

Our warehouse is tucked away in the Sankrail Industrial Park, specifically across those plots from 445 to 456 in Bhagabatipur. It’s a massive space, and it needs to be because we handle so many groceries every single day. If you walked in, you’d see rows and rows of metal shelving filled with everything from bags of rice to cleaning supplies. There’s a constant sound of plastic crates being moved around and the beeping of handheld scanners. The mornings are the busiest time here. That’s when the fresh produce comes in from the farms, and we have to get it sorted and ready to go out to the different parts of Howrah and beyond. It gets pretty chaotic, but there’s a system to it all. The floor is concrete and can get quite cold in the winter months. We have a lot of people working in shifts to make sure the orders are packed correctly. Sometimes we run out of a certain item, and it causes a bit of a headache for the delivery team. We don't have fancy carpets or quiet offices; it’s a working warehouse through and through. The village of Bhagabatipur is right nearby, and many of the folks who work here live just a short distance away. We just focus on getting the crates loaded onto the trucks so the food gets where it needs to go.
