Ma Manasa Bhander

Being in Shibpur Bazar means there is never a quiet moment. It’s loud, crowded, and always moving. Our shop, Ma Manasa Bhander, is right on Shibpur Road at number 21. If you live around here, you’ve probably walked past us a thousand times. We sell the usual household items people need for their kitchens. Rice, dal, spices, that kind of stuff. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for years. You see the same faces every morning. Some people come in just to vent about their day while they wait for their groceries to be packed. We use old scales sometimes because they still work fine. The bags get heavy, so we help people carry them to their cycles if we aren't too busy. Howrah is a tough place but the people are good. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Just the stuff on the shelves and us. The rain is the worst part because the road gets messy, but work doesn't stop. We keep the stock high because you never know when someone will need five kilos of sugar for a wedding or something. It’s a small space, a bit cramped maybe, but it’s ours. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the jars are full. It's not a big corporate thing, just a local bhander for the local folks. It's just what we do every day.
