Down in Napatty, in the Kumillapara area of Bally, you’ll find Lokenath Furniture. Our workshop and shop are right here near P.O. Sapuipara. It’s a bit quieter out here than in the main city, but we stay busy. We make a lot of our furniture right on site. You can usually hear the sound of hammers or sanders coming from the back area. We work mostly with local wood and make things like bed frames, cupboards, and benches. It’s a dusty place, and there are wood shavings everywhere most of the time. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. People just walk in, see what we are working on, and tell us what they need. Sometimes they bring a picture from a magazine, and we see if we can do something similar. It’s just me and a couple of helpers most days. We take our time with the joinery because that’s the way we learned to do it. The shop gets hot in the summer, so we usually start early in the morning to get the heavy work done before noon. It’s a simple life. We sell to our neighbors and people from the nearby villages. We don't have any big delivery trucks, just a small cart to move things around. It’s humble work, but we like it and it keeps us occupied.
