Our place is out in Amta, which is part of the Howrah district in West Bengal. Being in a village area means things move a bit differently than they do in the middle of the city. We are set up here mainly to handle the ready mix concrete side of the business. It’s a dusty environment because of all the trucks and the materials moving around, but that is just part of the job. The air smells like wet cement most of the time. The office is right there in the village, so we see a lot of the local folks going about their business. Getting here can be a bit of a drive depending on where you are coming from. The roads in Amta are not always the smoothest. During the monsoon, everything gets quite muddy, which makes moving the concrete a real challenge. We have a small team here just keeping an eye on the production and making sure the deliveries get out. It’s not a polished corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s more of a functional site office where we wear boots and don't worry too much about a bit of dirt on the floor. We’ve got some basic furniture and a computer that works most of the time. We just focus on getting the mix right and making sure the local projects have what they need to keep building. It is hard work, but we are used to the rhythm of the plant.
