Kamala Trading Co

Kamala Trading Co is at 135 Netaji Subhas Road. It’s a busy street and we’ve been here for many years. The building is quite old and has high ceilings that make it feel bigger than it is. We mostly deal with wholesale trading of various goods. It depends on the season what we have more of in the back room. The front door is usually propped open with a brick to let some air in. We have a lot of heavy ledgers and some old computers that still work fine for what we need. The stairs are made of dark wood and they creak every time someone walks up to the office. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this block. It’s a community where everyone knows your name and your business. We don’t do any advertising or social media. People just know we are here at number 135. We spend a lot of time checking invoices and making sure the crates are stacked properly in the alley. It’s manual labor mostly, and our hands are usually a bit dirty. Sometimes we get a bit behind on the filing, but we catch up eventually on rainy days. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim, so we use desk lamps. We just get on with the daily tasks as they come. There’s no big secret to how we work. We just show up and trade what we have in stock. It’s been that way since the very start of the business.
