Kamala Bhandar

Kamala Bhandar is sitting right on Station Road in the Ghoraghata area of Bagnan. We are part of the Kantapukur neighborhood here in Howrah, 711303. It is a simple, straightforward shop where we sell items for the home. We have been here for a good long time, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit, though Station Road always stays busy. The shop itself is filled with bags of grains, spices, and other things people need for their daily meals. It’s not a large or modern place. The lighting is a bit dim, and the shelves are crowded with all sorts of things. We don't use any fancy computer systems to track what we have; it’s all done by memory and looking at the jars. Most of our customers are locals from around Kantapukur who have been coming to us for years. We know which brand of tea they like or how much rice they usually buy. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with all the traffic heading to the station, but you get used to it after a few days. We don't have a mission statement or a big philosophy. We just want to make sure we are open when people need us and that we have the staples in stock. It’s a humble business, and we just take each day as it comes, serving the community here in West Bengal.
