Jay Mata Di General Stores is located right on Sandhya Bazar Road in Howrah. The bazar is always a noisy and active place, especially in the evenings. We are right in the thick of it. Our shop sells a variety of things that people use every day in their kitchens and homes. We have various spices, cooking oils, washing powders, and a good selection of biscuits. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about how we stack things so nothing falls over. The walls are covered in shelves from top to bottom. We don’t have a computer for billing, just a pen and a notebook where we keep track of everything. It can get very hot in the summer with all the people in the market, but we just keep the door open. We see all sorts of people every day, from housewives doing their daily shopping to workers picking up something on their way home. It’s a busy environment. We don’t have time for fancy talk. We just focus on serving the person standing at the counter and getting them what they need. The shop is a bit old, and the paint might be peeling in a few spots, but it’s a reliable place for the locals. We’ve been here for years and plan to stay right where we are in Sandhya Bazar. It is a humble business but it serves the area well enough.
