Emami Ltd

You can find us at 611 A on the G T Road in Serampore which is part of the Hooghly district. Being right on the main road means there is a constant stream of trucks and buses passing by our front door. Emami Ltd has a long history here and the building shows its age in a way that feels comfortable to us. The windows are large but we keep them closed mostly to shut out the dust from the road. Inside the floors are made of old stone and the desks are heavy wood that has been around for decades. It is a bit dark in some of the back rooms so we have to keep the lights on even during the day. We have a small yard in the back where some of us go to sit for a few minutes when we need a break from the noise of the machinery and the traffic. The people who work here are mostly locals from Serampore or nearby villages so there is a lot of Bengali spoken throughout the day. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks to outsiders because we are too busy keeping up with the orders and the paperwork. It is a hardworking place where things move at a steady pace and we all just do our part to keep the wheels turning without much fuss.
