Dipankar Stores

Uluberia is a busy area especially since the NH-6 passes right through it. Dipankar Stores is located in Sijberia in the Narkeltala area which is right near the highway. You can always hear the sound of the trucks and buses zooming past on the NH-6 which is something we have just grown used to. Being in Howrah means we get a lot of humidity and the shop can feel a bit stuffy during the monsoon season. We have been here for a long time serving the local people who live in and around Sijberia. It’s a variety store so we have a little bit of everything from household goods to small snacks. The locals know us well and often stop by on their way to or from the highway. We don't have a very big setup but we make sure the shelves are always packed with what people need. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the boxes coming in but that’s just part of the business. It’s a very grounded life here watching the traffic and talking to the regulars who come in for their daily supplies. We don't do anything flashy we just keep the shop running and make sure we are here when the neighbors need something. It’s just a plain old store in a busy part of Howrah. Most days I am just here with my tea waiting for the afternoon rush.
