Bunan Eco Textiles Private Limited

Our little setup is over in Jangalpara, specifically at Udaynarayanpur. We are C/O Dipali Mondal at the Shibpur address. Bunan Eco Textiles is all about doing things in a more natural way, though it’s a lot of hard work. We don't use the heavy chemicals you see in the big factories. Most of our work is done by hand or on small looms. It’s a quiet place compared to the city. You can hear the birds outside while we are working on the fabrics. The space is a bit cramped because we have bags of natural fibers stacked up everywhere. It’s a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. We have some local women who come in and sit together to do the finishing work. They talk and laugh while they work, which makes the day go by faster. We use simple tools and try not to waste anything. The floors are just plain stone and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. We don't have a big sign outside or anything. People just know to find us here. It’s a very basic way of running a business, but it suits us. The fabric is soft and we spend a lot of time checking it for mistakes. If we find a loose thread, we just fix it right there. We don't have automated systems for that. It’s all very personal and direct. We just keep our heads down and enjoy the quiet work.
