Bishaka Nidhi Limited

You can find us down in Vill-Sahachak, right around the Monshatala area in Howrah. Bishaka Nidhi Limited is located at Kashinath Maji’s house, which is pretty easy to spot once you get into the village. K M Balichak is the post office we use, and it’s a nice enough walk from the main road. We aren’t a huge operation with hundreds of staff members. It is mostly just a couple of us handling the daily tasks and making sure the records are kept in order. The village is usually quiet, except for when people are heading out to the fields or coming back from work in the evening. We started this because we saw that people in Sahachak needed a place nearby instead of traveling all the way into the bigger towns. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit to get back to the computer, but that is just how things go here. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or leather chairs. It’s just wooden tables and a few fans to keep the air moving during the summer months. People drop by after their chores are done, and we have a chat while we look over their folders. It’s a very local way of doing things, and we wouldn’t really have it any other way. It is just about helping the neighbors with their small bits of business.
