Bhoumik Variety Store

Our shop is located on Cinema Road in Baidyanath Pur, which is part of the Bagnan area in Howrah. Being on Cinema Road means there are always people walking past. We call it a variety store because we try to keep a bit of everything on hand. It is not just rice and pulses, but we also have plastic buckets, pens, and batteries. The space is a bit tight because we have so much stock tucked into the corners. Sometimes I even forget where I put the smaller things like sewing kits or shoelaces. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen better days. We don't mind it much. My father was the one who started this place, and I just kept it going. Since we are in Howrah, the air can get quite damp during the monsoon. We have to be careful with the bags of salt and sugar so they don't get ruined. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming here for years. They know our names and we know theirs. We don't have a big fancy sign outside, just the name of the store painted on the wall. It is a practical place for practical people. If you are near Mugkalyan and need something for your house, you can just pop in and ask. We probably have it hidden away somewhere on a shelf.
