Our place is located in Ambika Vihar on Hardttrai Chamaria Road. It is a small office in Howrah, near the ICICI Bank. The traffic around here can be quite something, especially in the mornings. I have a small desk where I keep all the booking slips and the phone. It is usually just me and a couple of drivers who hang around between trips. We have a few plastic chairs for people to sit while we sort out their travel plans. The walls have some old calendars on them. We have been operating from this spot for several years. People in the neighborhood know to come here if they need a car for a long distance or just a trip across the city. Howrah is a crowded place, so navigating the lanes takes some skill. Our drivers are used to it. I spend a lot of time coordinating the timings. Sometimes the trains are late at the station, and we have to wait longer than planned. It is just part of the routine. We don't use any high-tech software; a pen and a register work fine for us. There is a tea stall nearby that brings us chai a few times a day. We like the local feel of the business. It is not a huge company with many branches, just this one office where we try to get things right for the people. We just keep the cars moving as best as we can.
