Down at Amta College More in Howrah, you’ll find us at Mondal Bag Centre. It’s a busy corner because of the college students and the local traffic passing through Amta. We’ve been here for a good bit of time, surrounded by all kinds of bags hanging from the ceiling and stacked against the walls. We handle everything from school backpacks to those heavy travel bags people use for long train trips. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to be careful how we pile things up so nothing falls over. Working in Howrah means you deal with a lot of dust and humidity, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the stock. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and you’ll usually find one of us sitting near the front, ready to show someone a zipper or a different strap. We don’t go in for fancy displays. We just put the bags out where people can see them and feel the material. Sometimes we do repairs too, if a buckle breaks or a seam comes apart. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. People around Amta know us as the place to go when they need something sturdy for their books or clothes. We aren't trying to be a big mall store. We are just a local shop at the College More, doing our daily business and chatting with the neighbors.
