Amri Hospitals, Saltlake.Kolkata actually has this office or branch at Jogendralaya in Serampore. It is on Panchanantala Lane. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road. We are part of the bigger hospital group but this location has its own feel. It’s mostly staff here doing administrative work and helping patients who come from the Hooghly area. The building is an old-style house, not a big glass tower. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the desks and filing cabinets. We deal with a lot of patient records and appointments. It gets very busy in the mornings. We don’t really have a big waiting room, just some benches for people to sit on. The people working here live nearby, so it feels like a neighborhood place. We have to be careful with all the details because it’s about health. Sometimes we have to explain things many times to people who are worried. We don't use fancy medical words if we can help it. We just tell them what they need to do next. The lane outside is narrow, so parking is always a problem for visitors. We’ve been here in Serampore for some time now. It’s a long way from Salt Lake but we bridge that gap. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. It’s a busy life but we are used to it.
