Subrata Hazra’s place is where we operate from, over in Kantalia near the Itkhola side of Howrah. It is a busy neighborhood with a lot of dust and noise from the traffic nearby. We deal with tea and some machinery stuff, which means there is always something to carry or fix. The office isn't very big and we have papers stacked up on the desks more than I’d like to admit. It’s a bit of a walk from the main crossing but we don’t mind it. Some days the humidity in Howrah is just too much and we all end up sitting under the old ceiling fan for a break. We get a lot of phone calls about parts and tea leaf grades throughout the morning. It’s mostly just a few of us trying to keep track of orders and making sure the deliveries go to the right spots in West Bengal. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but we are too busy with the daily chores to worry about that right now. We have some tea together in the afternoon and talk about what needs to get finished before the sun goes down. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes things get a little disorganized when we have too many orders at once, but we eventually sort it out by the end of the week.
