S. l. v. Doors

You can find us right on Railway Station Road. We are directly opposite the sub jail, which is the easiest way to describe where we are. It’s a loud, busy part of town. Between the trains pulling in and the traffic on the road, there is always noise. We mostly handle doors of all sorts. Wood, metal, whatever the customer is looking for that day. Our workshop is usually full of wood shavings and the smell of polish. It’s a very hands-on job. We have different styles leaning against the walls. Some people want simple designs and others want something a bit more sturdy. We don’t have a big marketing team. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for people to stop by. The location near the station means we get a lot of foot traffic. It’s a gritty, practical place to work. We don’t mind the dust or the noise much anymore. My clothes usually have some stain or sawdust on them by the end of the day. It’s just how it is. We’ve been at this spot for years. The jail across the street hasn't changed much, and neither have we. We just keep making doors that fit. Sometimes a customer brings a very old door that needs replacing and we have to figure out how to match it. It’s interesting work even if it is a bit tiring for the back.
