Shankar Earthmovers

Down on 2nd Main Road in Kattigenahalli, you will find us at number 560. Shankar Earthmovers is a place where there is always a bit of mud on the floor. Working with big machines means there is a lot of grease and oil smells hanging in the air. We have a large yard where we keep the equipment when it is not out on a job. The office is just a small shack on the edge of the lot. It has a corrugated metal roof that leaks just a little bit in the far corner. We spend most of our time outside or leaning over an engine with a wrench. It is not a job for someone who likes to stay clean. The traffic on 2nd Main Road is always humming in the background. Sometimes the neighbors come by to ask if we can move a pile of dirt or help with a small task. We have a few old dogs that sleep under the machines to stay out of the sun. The paperwork is usually shoved into a drawer and covered in thumbprints. It is a rugged way to make a living, but we are used to it. The tools are heavy and the days are long, especially when a machine breaks down. We don't have any fancy brochures. People just know where we are and what we do. It is a simple, gritty business.
