The Unati Co - Operative Marketing- Cum- Processing Society Ltd.

Our place is located out near the Mukerian Hydel Power House, about five kilometers from Talwara. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s where we have the space for our processing work. Being a co-operative means we work with a lot of different people from the area. The Unati Co-Operative Marketing-Cum-Processing Society Ltd. has a long name, but we just call it the society. We spend our days handling whatever crops or materials come in from the local members. It’s a lot of loading and unloading trucks. The building is functional, nothing more. We have a few offices, but most of the action happens in the processing area. It’s quiet out here compared to the city, except when the machines are running. We deal with a lot of paperwork because of the cooperative structure, which can be a bit of a headache sometimes. Everyone knows everyone around here. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just want to make sure the processing gets done right so the marketing side of things can move forward. Sometimes the weather slows us down, or a machine needs a part from far away. We just take it day by day. It’s practical work for practical people. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just show up, do the processing, and talk to the farmers when they stop by. It’s a long day most times, but it’s what we do for the community.
