Sravshakti Nidhi Limited is based in the village of Daghamgarshankar in Hoshiarpur. Our office is right there in the VPO area, which is the heart of our small community. Being in Hoshiarpur, we are surrounded by a lot of greenery and farmland. The pace of life here is a bit slower than the big cities, and our business reflects that. We are not trying to be a giant bank; we are just a local group helping our neighbors save their money. The office is a simple room with a couple of tables and some chairs where people can sit while we fill out their forms. We use pen and paper for a lot of things, though we have a computer for the official records too. On most days, you will hear the sounds of the village outside while we work. People come in wearing their everyday clothes, maybe after finishing work in the fields or the local shops. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. It is a very personal way to handle money. There are no corporate rules that do not make sense for a village. We just focus on being honest and making sure the math is right at the end of every day.
