Sandeep Rice Mill

Over here at Sandeep Rice Mill, we're tucked away on Madher Road in Village Butter Bakuha. It is a local place that has been part of the landscape for a good while. We don't spend much time on things like decorating or making the place look polished. Our focus is almost entirely on the rice. The mill is a busy spot, filled with the smell of dry husks and the sound of heavy machinery. Most of the folks working here are from the village or just down the road. We know each other's families and what is going on in town. During the peak season, the yard is a bit of a mess with all the activity, but we manage to keep things moving. The old gate squeaks every time someone opens it, and we keep saying we will oil it, but then the next truck rolls in and we forget about it. We have a few sheds for storage that are getting a bit crowded these days, so we have to be careful how we stack the bags. It is not an easy job, standing on your feet all day and moving heavy sacks, but it provides for us. We just take things one day at a time. When the sun goes down, we lock up and head home to our families, ready to do it all again tomorrow morning. It is just a regular mill run by regular people who know their way around a sack of grain and a hard day's work.
