Gopal Varnish Company

We have been operating out of this spot on Bharwain Road for quite a while now. Most days start the same way, opening up the shutters and letting some air into the shop. Varnish has a very particular smell, and after a few hours, you don't even notice it anymore, but visitors always do. The shelves are packed with different tins and cans, some dusty and some fresh from the latest delivery. We spend a lot of time just moving things around to find exactly what someone is looking for. It’s a simple place, really. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just the counter, the stock, and the old ceiling fan that clicks when it's on the highest setting. Bharwain Road can get pretty busy with traffic, so there is always a bit of noise from the trucks passing by. Sometimes we just sit and watch the rain hit the pavement when business is slow. We know the neighbors pretty well, and we usually get our tea from the stall just down the way. It’s not a big corporate operation, just us doing our work and making sure people get the right stuff for their wood projects. We keep track of everything in big ledger books because that is just how we have always done it. It takes time to go through the pages, but it feels right to do it by hand. Most people who come in are regulars from the area.
