Creambell Ice Cream

Our warehouse is situated near the railway crossing at Adda Hoshiarpur. It is one of those places that you can’t miss because of the trains that go by every hour. The sound of the whistle is basically our alarm clock. It’s a dusty spot, being so close to the tracks, so we are always sweeping the front area to keep things looking decent. We handle the Creambell stock for this area, so our days are filled with big refrigerated trucks pulling in and out of the yard. The crossing gate often gets stuck or stays down for a long time, which can be frustrating when we are trying to get a delivery out on time. The building itself is a big shed with high ceilings to keep the heat from building up too much. We don't have much of a front office, just a small cabin with a computer and a few files where we track the inventory. Most of the work happens in the cold room, so we are always putting on and taking off heavy jackets even when it’s boiling outside. It’s a strange way to work, switching between the freezing cold and the outside heat. The local tea stall is just across the tracks, and we usually send someone over there around four o'clock when the traffic is a bit lighter. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place where we just focus on keeping the chain moving and the freezers running right.
