Bains Earth Movers

Out here in Village Bahowal, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, but there is always plenty of work for Bains Earth Movers. We are located right in the village, near the main post, and everybody around here pretty much knows who we are and what we do. Our machines are usually out in the fields or helping clear space for new buildings coming up in the Taluka . It’s dusty work, especially in the dry months, and we spend a lot of time just cleaning filters and greasing joints to keep things from breaking down. Being in a small place like Bahowal means we see the same faces every day, and a lot of our jobs come from people we’ve known for years. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. It’s just a simple room where we keep our keys and records. Often, the phone rings and it’s someone needing a trench dug or some land leveled before the monsoon starts. We try to get out there as fast as we can, though sometimes the old roads make it slow going. It’s a practical life, working with the soil and the heavy iron. There's always a tractor or some kind of truck passing by the front door, making a lot of noise. We don't mind it much anymore, as you get used to the sounds of the village after a while. We aren't trying to be anything we're not. We just show up, do the work, and hope the machines hold up for the next day.
