Wake Up Progressive Youth Foundation

This is a small group of us based in Muktapur, Tarakeshwar. We run things from Kalipada Bera’s son's house. It is a quiet area but we try to keep things interesting for the younger people around here. Most of us have lived in this part of Tarakeshwar our whole lives. We saw that there wasn't much for the youth to do after school or work, so we started getting together. It is not like those big city offices you see on TV. We just have a room where we meet and talk. Sometimes we help with local events or just check on neighbors who are having a hard time. It is important to stay active when you live in a small town like this. We don't have a lot of money or fancy equipment. We just use what we have. People stop by all the time just to say hello or ask for a bit of help with something. We don't really have set hours, we are just there when someone needs us. It feels like a family more than anything else. Sometimes the meetings get a bit loud when we all have different ideas, but that is how it goes. We just want to see the young people here doing something good with their time instead of just sitting around. It is just us trying our best for the village.
