We are located at 65/Q on Ram Krishna Road in Rishra. The Hooghly district has always been a hub for this kind of work. Working on wagons is heavy stuff. The air always smells a bit like metal and grease. Our place in 712248 is where the planning and the small details get sorted out. It is an old building, typical for West Bengal. We do not have air conditioning in every room, so we leave the windows open. You can hear the trains passing by sometimes. It is fitting given what we do. The staff here has been around for years. We do not go for those modern office layouts. Everyone has their own wooden desk piled with files. We spend a lot of time looking at diagrams and checking numbers. It is not a flashy job. It is more about making sure the parts fit and the schedules are met. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a mess, but we still make it in. The office dog usually sleeps under the main table during the heat of the day. We do not have many visitors, but when we do, we just pull up a stool. It is a very straightforward way to spend the day. People around Rishra know the name. We have a routine that has not changed much in a decade. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the work.
