If you are looking for us, we are up on the third floor of a building on Thakur Das Babu Lane in Serampore. It is Flat No. 16. There is no elevator, so we all get our exercise walking up those stairs every single day. Standard Electircals Ltd has been in this spot for a while now. The building is old and has that classic Hooghly feel to it. We deal with all sorts of electrical components and heavy parts. Our office is usually full of boxes and technical manuals. It is a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is kept. Outside, the street is always humming with people going to the market or the station. The humidity in West Bengal can make the office feel a bit stuffy, but we keep the windows open when it is not raining. Most of our work involves talking to suppliers and local contractors who need parts for their projects. We are just regular people earning a living. We do not have any fancy furniture or a big reception area. You just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the front desk. We have our tea together in the afternoon and talk about the local football matches. It is a very plain and simple way of doing things.
