Shyam Garments

Rishra is a busy place, especially around N.S. Road where our shop, Shyam Garments, is located. We’ve been at this spot for quite some time, and the building shows its age a bit, but it works for us. Most of our days are spent folding clothes and helping people find the right size. During the festive months, especially before Durga Puja, it gets absolutely chaotic. The shop gets packed with families, and we barely have time to eat our lunch in the small room at the back. I usually have a couple of guys helping me out, but they’re always on their phones when I’m not looking. We get our stock from different suppliers across West Bengal, so there’s always a bag or a box arriving that needs to be sorted. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the hand fans while waiting for the power to come back. It’s just how things are here in Hooghly. We know most of our regular customers by name and what kind of colors they like. We aren't trying to be some high-end boutique; we just sell decent clothes for a fair price. By the time we pull down the gate at night, my back usually aches, but seeing the shop full of life keeps us going the next day at 41/15 N.S.Road P.O - Rishra (Hooghly) West Bengal - 712248.
