Neogi Construction. is based in Chandannagore, at 55, Srish Bose Road in the Fatakgora area. If you know this part of Hooghly, you know it has a lot of history. The streets are a bit narrow in places, and the buildings have that old-style character. Our office is right in the middle of it. It’s a simple place with old wooden doors and high ceilings. We don’t have air conditioning in every room, so we rely on the ceiling fans to stay cool during the humid Bengal summers. Working here feels different than being in a modern office park in Kolkata. There’s a bit more soul to the place. We’ve been operating out of this address for years, and we know most of the people on Srish Bose Road. It’s a tight-knit community. You can hear the sounds of the town outside—the rickshaws, the local vendors, and the neighbors talking. We spend our days looking over blueprints and talking to suppliers. It’s not a flashy job, but it’s what we do. We usually have a bit of sweets with our tea in the afternoon, which is a nice break. The paperwork fills up the shelves, and we’re always looking for more space. But for now, this spot in Fatakgora works just fine for us. It’s where we started and where we plan to stay.
